Welcome on board De Verwondering
We look forward to welcoming you on board for a trip on this comfortable, fast clipper that was originally built in 1909. Whether you want to go sailing for a day, a weekend or a week, competitively or simply relaxing, De Verwondering and her crew will tailor the trip to precisely what you want. She has 16 berths and can take up to 35 guests for day trips. De Verwondering was built in 1909 at the Beveren Yard in Zoeterwoude. She worked for many years as a cargo vessel, initially under sail but was later fitted with an engine. In 1974 she was converted into a live-abroad. In 1986 she was refitted with a mast and sails and the former cargo hold was converted for taking passengers. De Verwondering underwent a complete refit in the winter of 2012 to once again meet the new requirements and to comply with modern standards. Down below, she has seating for 25 people, a large, fully-equipped galley, radio, 230 volt power supply, 2 heads, a spacious shower with under-floor heating and 16 comfortable berths, including berths for taller/larger people. On deck there is a cockpit and the teak decks are also perfect for just relaxing and enjoying a wonderful sailing trip.
Taking the helm
Pepijn Krikke has owned De Verwondering since 2010, prior to which he spent many years sailing on other vessels, first as a mate and later as the skipper. Pepijn will be pleased to tell you what it’s like sailing a boat that’s more than a 100 years old but he’ll also let you experience what it’s like to take the helm yourself.
