The Aegir: A Historic Two-Mast 'klipper' for Adventurous Sailing
The two-mast 'klipper' Aegir was built in 1904 according to the "Friesche maat" (Frisian design), making it ideal for navigating the locks and inland waters of Friesland. With a rich history, the Aegir takes you on a unique sailing adventure.
Renovated and Transformed into a Comfortable Sailing Ship
From 1983 to 1986, captain and owner Jaap Gomes carefully restored the original hull and transformed it into a comfortable and well-sailing vessel. Since then, the Aegir has proudly sailed from Harlingen, ready to embark on adventurous sailing trips.
A Unique Feature of the Aegir
What makes the Aegir truly special is its original hatch deck. This unique feature allows the roof of the spacious day room to be removed. On warm summer evenings, this offers a refreshing breeze and a pleasant sailing experience. Additionally, the entire ship is equipped with central heating, allowing groups to enjoy sailing trips to the islands even in November and December.
Adventurous Sailing on the Aegir
With a friendly crew, extra sails, and captain Jaap's over 20 years of experience, the Aegir sails to the most beautiful spots on the Wadden Sea. Those who embark on an adventure with Jaap are guaranteed an exciting and active sailing trip. Afterward, it's time to relax with a refreshing beer from the tap and enjoy freshly caught fish.
