Everyone is welcome aboard our beautiful Frisian tjalk Vertrouwen!
This is the motto of Vertrouwen! In addition to fantastic sailing trips with groups of friends, families, and associations, we also offer vacations for people with intellectual disabilities and young people in youth care.
After working for over 25 years in youth care, Lex and Irma now combine their passion for sailing on authentic ships with hospitality, warmth, and fun for every group. Lex was a charter skipper from 1986 to 1996 with another ship and is an experienced captain who knows the Dutch waters well. Over the past years, Vertrouwen has sailed with 18 passengers and now accommodates a maximum of 12 passengers. This means the ship is spacious and offers comfortable sleeping arrangements with ample storage. The ship has a generous headroom of 2.00 – 2.40 meters. The cozy salon provides plenty of comfortable seating.
Everyone feels at home on Vertrouwen
We bet you'll quickly feel at home on board Vertrouwen! The open kitchen, equipped with eight burners, an oven, and two refrigerators, makes cooking a pleasure while chatting with the rest of the group. The spacious tables invite you to gather, enjoy a delicious homemade meal, or spend long, cozy evenings together. The ship features four double cabins, one four-person cabin, and a single cabin. Each cabin is equipped with running water, central heating, and ample storage space. Additionally, the ship has a spacious shower and two modern, roomy toilets.
Enjoy life on deck
On deck, you can fully enjoy your sailing adventure. Join in hoisting and setting the sails, steering the ship, or plotting the course. Or simply sit back, relax, and take in the wind, sun, and breathtaking views. Find a comfortable spot on deck with a lounge cushion or settle into the cockpit of this beautiful tjalk. Whatever you choose, the most important thing is to enjoy! The owners are passionate sailors and are happy to teach you the tricks of the trade.
The history of Vertrouwen from Enkhuizen
Vertrouwen was launched in 1904 at the J.J. Bos shipyard in Echtenerbrug, a yard renowned for its well-built and fast ships. For years, Captain Bos transported cargo across the country with this special Frisian tjalk, known for its speed and excellent sailing characteristics. In 1990, the ship was restored and adapted for sailing holidays without compromising its original appearance or impressive sailing capabilities. Since 2012, Irma & Lex have been the proud owners of Vertrouwen, modernizing the ship both inside and out while preserving its authentic charm.
