Maxima: The Ship with That Little Extra
Maxima, a well-maintained sailing ship from 1903, offers maximum comfort for multi-day sailing trips with 3 single cabins, 4 double cabins, and 1 triple cabin, accommodating up to 14 people.
The interior of Maxima is in its own league, with its rounded shapes and modern design, all conceived and crafted by the skipper himself.
During the last major refit in 2022, we reduced the number of beds from 18 to 14 to provide even more space and comfort for our dear guests.
The sheltered cockpit in front of the cabin, with its soft upholstery, offers a delightful and comfortable seating area for 14 people, where you can enjoy sailing in comfort and safety. Two permanent tables complete this seating area, and in the evening, we set up a roof over the cockpit, add warm lighting and fleece blankets, and enjoy the cozy atmosphere.
As for sailing performance, Maxima is one of the fastest boats in the fleet, and with its simple sail plan, it’s easy to handle, even by smaller groups and children. My wife and crew member, Margo, and I, Olav, are happy to explain everything, including the finer details of sail trimming.
Our sailing area is mainly the Wadden Sea. The excellent sailing properties and shallow draft allow us to reach the most beautiful spots on the Wadden.
Due to the ebb and flow, there’s a tidal difference of 2 to 3 meters. We have a 5-meter gangway with a handrail, which is always demonstrated and ensures safe boarding and disembarking for young and old alike.
