Get away for a weekend on the IJsselmeer

Over 18% of Holland is made up out of water. To experience the country from the water is a unique perspective, one that you can enjoy with a traditional Dutch barge. For example, one from the Holland Sail fleet on a weekend getaway.

You'll board the ship on friday night, absorb the nautical atmosphere on deck and set sail saturday morning. You can plan the sailing weekend according to your own wishes. You can spend the entire weekend sailing, or - if you wish - visit a harbour town and spend some time ashore. It's up to you.
  • Departing from Enkhuizen, you can sail on the IJsselmeer to the scenic harbours around the former Zuiderzee. Towns like Medemblik, Hoorn, Stavoren are within sailing distance.
  • Departing from Harlingen you can sail on the Waddenzee and visit the West Frisian Islands Texel and Terschelling. There is plenty of time for walks along the beach, drinks, shopping or biking, should you wish.
The ship is also your hotel, with a terrace on deck. You'll relax from the days trip together and when it's time retreat to your hut for some well-deserved stut-eye.  On Sunday you will sail back to the harbour you departed from.

During a sailing weekend you can self-cater aboard, but we offer a multitude of catering options should you wish to avoid the hassle.
